Nothing really exciting to tell…
Or at least I don’t have the time to write about it, but I just wanted to say that I am not only alive, but kicking a lot :P

And I’ve seen that you are round here too, so hi :)

Oh, just one thing: I’m fed up with blog spam (who isn’t these days? :dead:), but I’m not closing comments (there!). I’ll try and look for a better solution that doesn’t imply giving in to the spammers.

Bye for now, see you soon =)
(Goes and buys a bazooka as part of the plan of fighting spammers).

NOSTALGIA

Nostalgia, that’s the word.
No “morriña” or “saudade” (Galician words for a deep feeling of sadness for what you have left behind and that I would simply call “home sickness”). It’s just nostalgia: we have had a rather rainy day today in Lódz but not too cold actually and then, after several quite unpleasant hours of rain and wind, the sun appeared as if it was magic or something… Quite a Galician day…

So, after the Spanish lessons I gave and the Polish lessons I received, I got online and listened to Radio Galega (public Galician radio station) and Cadena Ser (an importan Spanish radio station: I love their football programs :geeked:); I also took a look at some pictures of my home town: Pontevedra and took a virtual tour of Galicia through its main webcams in order to check what was going on round there =). I listened to some Galician music too, of course .

Then I logged on the Messenger and voilà: there was one of my Galician cousins…

I like Spain in general and specially my Comunity: Galicia a lot, but the idea of not spending much time there in the next 9 months doesn’t make me feel specially sad… I’m feeling so comfortable here in Poland, in spite of some difficulties and differences, that it is easy for me to vividly relive “Galician scenes”. It wasn’t that way in the USA: after three weeks there I could even forget who I had been in my homeplace; interesting feeling, but not nice once you realise that…

Whatever. Today has been a nostalgic day, but a happily nostalgic one :)

Oh, for what is worth, I made some tiny retouches to Collectanea.Org.
Czesc!

MINI-HOLIDAYS

Hi everyone,
I’ve just returned of a four day trip to Cracow and Kalisz (the last a tiny but charming town not far from Lodz), I remembered a lot of things of my staying there in 1997, but this time was almost winter, not summer, so I could see the town with a different atmosphere… As last Thurday was the National day of Poland, loads of students and foreigners had come to Cracow and enjoy it, so I met a lot of Spaniards (I don’t like Spaniards when I am abroad, maybe it’s due to my Galician personality…) and several pupils of mine :geeked:.

I enjoyed myself quite a lot but I don’t have nothing really special to tell here, sorry. Jud. and me just walked a lot, visited some interesting spots by chance and dealt with some noisy students that wouldn’t let Jud. sleep in the hostel. She is a bit fussy about certain things, but she finally didn’t go to the students room and kill them or something: she just phoned the reception desk and complainted for several minutes making more noise than the students :dead:, but the whole situation was fun for me. I think there was a point in which she seemed angry because I was not angry about the students being noisy, but I kept pretending I was almost slept and she finally calmed dawn :P.

Incidentally, I must mention the project in which Thilo is involved this academic year. The title is “EUtopie - unsere Zukunft in Europa” and I wish it will be a great success… By the way, Thilo, may I go to your school in July and take part of the celebrations?? :uh:. I don’t want to put you against the wall, but I would be delighted if you “allowed” me to go :), anyway, I will help you in whatever I can whether you invite me or not ;).

Übrigens, I remember you asked me about the UE hymn a while ago (not only on your last comment, and thank you, by the way): the hymn of the UE has not official lyrics, so nobody could feel offended if at anytime it is singed in a particular language (that’s the same as in Spain: our hymn doesn’t have any lyrics). So, just that part of the 9th Symphony by Beethoven is the hymn of the EU. You can get it in here (click-click).

Oh, Iva, sorry about mentioning the EU “again” :dead:. And thank you for taking the time of reading all the visible stuff of my blog :geeked:.

And now that I am thanking everyone, I also thank Helen (I love your dark layouts, but a “moonenlightened” one might be nice too ;)), Sarah (have you received my email on the mp3 thing? I think you will like my answer 8-)) and Frauke (I’m emailing that password to you right now :P). Thanks not only for commenting, but for being great online people…

Gosh! I need some sleep, I’m talking cheesy stuff as if I were drunked or something :violin:… But I meant all that nonsense :geeked:.
Yep, I need some sleep…
I hope I will be able to release some new site stuff soon…
I’ll try to…
But now I need some sleep…

Dobranoc…

BUSY (AGAIN AND AGAIN)

Hi everyone!
I’ve finished writing my very first PHP script… Actually is a modification of a previous existant script, but I’ve got the permission of the author to release my modification for public usage . It’s a simple script to easily mantain your curriculum vitae online. Anyway, I need to polish it up a bit, but I’ll tell you when I release it in case you want to use it.

I’ve come up with a new layout for Callitoes Collectanea (you may be already there right now ): I will change just the stylesheet and the main graphic, but I won’t do it until next year or so, because I love that Harry Potter layout too much =).

And yes, I know, I need to update the hostees section at Collectanea.Org… I’ll do it asap, it’s on the -wait a sec- (counts) sixth place on my “priorities” list :P. But I don’t forget about you, take it for sure :geeked:.

For what is worth, the European Union fanlisting has a new version: the Italian one. I know Italian, but I was just too lazy to write the translation, besides, I’m not too sure about my grammar :P, so Sky did the “dirty job” for me and there it is for you, Italian lovers, to enjoy :geeked:.

Incidentally: great that visitors and hostees are active again, I guess we’ve all got used to the “back to routine” thing and inspiration has come again plenty of layouts, comments and so on ;) I myself feel that way too.

BIRTHDAY

So, my birthday was yesterday and in spite of the fact that I had to work -and Tuesday is one of my busiest days- the truth is that it was quite a fun and exciting day.

I received greetings from loads of people that I didn’t know they would remember my birthday, for example, some school and University mates, so I could know about their lives as well. I also received greetings from several online friends, and I appreciate that a lot =). I even received an sms from the girlfriend of a girl (yes, I wanted to write that) that reads my Spanish sort-of-blog; I wasn’t too sure about how to react, but as it was a really nice greeting, I liked it a lot. Anyway, I hope she is not too jealous about me or anything…

My first class was at 8 a.m so that made the day quite a long one. I gave sweets to all my students, and the last group of the evening (absolute begginers) sang the Polish Happy Birthday to me -pretty interesting, by the way: it’s not with the usual international tune, but with another one- and that was really thrilling.

After my classes I went to J.’s house where her parents and sisters had organised a mini-party for me, with presents cakes and everything. One of J.’s brothers even phoned me while we were there to apologise for not attending the party. Then we watched for a while the Barecelona-Milan football game, but as I prefer to watch Real Madrid or Deportivo games, I got a bit bored of that, so I went to play with Kasia and we invented some odd names for Figa (Figa is a dog, Kasia is a 14 year-old girl :)).

When we got back home J. gave me her present for me: as I like air fresheners and toys, she bought me a little teddy bear which is also an air freshener. Then, as I was rather tired, I went to bed; but in comparison with Spain, the hour at which everybody goes to bed here is really early, so as I received even more sms greeting me, I couldn’t get to sleep till midnight .

And no, I haven’t seen or read the news since Monday… I didn’t want to spoil the fun…

And well, this is all so far.
I have some funny anecdotes of the last few days, such as the lecture J. gave at the University of Lódz about Tuwim, but I don’t have much time to write everything in here. I guess I just have to keep it into my memory…

Hope you are all doing well.
More ramblings soons, I guess ;).
