Un poco de todo para hablar de tres cosas que me han llamado la atención esta mañana durante mi “tradicional” paseo por la Red de Redes.
Primero, el plato fuerte: friquismo gore que me encuentro gracias a Después de Google.
Las historias de Préxedes, la niña que tenía la cara al revés, y Papadopoulos, el niño que no sabía tocar el piano son… Indescriptibles.
Aviso: os puede dar un patatús al ver estos cortos animados.
Algo más relajado: Julio Cortázar, con su peculiar pronunciación de las “errrres” (aunque algunos dicen que no es realmente la voz de Julio Cortázar), es la voz de fondo de un nuevo anuncio de SEAT que me encuentro gracias a Papel en Blanco.
Me parece un anuncio muy interesante, pero lo malo es que, como dicen en el artículo de Papel en blanco, muy pocos se darán cuenta de que el texto es de Historias de Cronopios y de Famas (1962), historias que encantaron a mis alumnos polacos cuando las tratamos en clase, y en lugar de interesarse por el libro o Cortázar, muchos “paletizarán” lo que vean en este anuncio como ocurre con casi todo en España (y en el mundo) últimamente (me estoy volviendo más carca…).
La verdad es que la moraleja del anuncio es que no te compres ni conduzcas coches, pero bueno, quizás yo sea la única que lo interprete así por mi amaxofobia…
Para terminar, las portadas de Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (todavía sin título oficial en español, aunque es algo así como “HP y los sagrados mortíferos”, pero tendría que ver a qué se refiere).
Ese artículo me ha encantado.
Podría haberlo escrito yo (la verdad es que me he dedicado a ir lanzando comentarios relacionados a diestro y siniestro en varios sitios en lugar de haber escrito una entrada ) pero Óscar, de SferaZero, se me ha adelantado y lo ha hecho mejor de lo que yo podría haberlo hecho: desde el punto de vista de un auténtico profesional de Internet, ahí queda eso:

Actually, they don’t tell us anything most of us haven’t thought by ourselves or read somewhere, but being told in such a direct and concise way what we already suspecting is somewhat… Creepy.
Anyway, I think I’m moving back to Altavista (oh… Those where the days…). I’m really feeling I don’t get from Google what I used to get: something really related to what I was looking for. Now it’s getting more and more difficult, and it shouldn’t be that way.
After several days of spring weather in the beginning of March, on Monday we started to have snow falling from sky that easily converted into water on the floor…
But now IT IS SNOWING. There’s snow EVERYWHERE.
I had seen snow in Luxembourg last year, but it was in the end of February and the beginning of March AND NOW WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE SPRING.
I learnt how to really hate snow in Poland after months and months of white nightmare, but I guess I am getting used to not feel anything about it. I think I will never love it again, as it used to happen when I was younger because in the Galician coast snow is something rather exotic, but oh well, now for me snow is just snow.
The fact of knowing how to tweak your WP installation or how to customise PHP scripts doesn’t make you a PHP guru.
The fact of being a native speaker of one language and have some knowledge of another doesn’t make you a good translator.
Why then do we hire professional programmers but leave translations to amateurs?
I’m talking mainly about some Open Source projects. I do like collaborative projects, but I find it very sad that they do spend some money and put special care on the coding but not even half of it on the translation managing or at least its revision…

I’m not saying that this is always like that…
But almost…
Well, I guess that the good thing about Open Source is that I can always go and do it myself, but not all applications I use are Open Source, and in some of them it’s evident that the texts (in Spanish, at least) had never been read by a professional linguist before being released. As it can be seen on the image on the left.
No sé si es Eurovisión o yo, pero cada año le tengo más y más manía al festival ese (y que conste que no me disgustó en absoluto que ganasen los “alternativos” finlandeses del año pasado), y eso que siempre he partido del supuesto de que es una horterada como un mundo y está todo amañado. Pero no sé, cada año me molesta más.
En cualquier caso, me gusta mucho la canción de Rumanía de este año, adivinad por qué
(Escuchadla entera antes de opinar: yo misma cuando escuché el principio me pareció que estaba ante otra de esas canciones para enseñarles inglés a niños de 6 años).
Como veis, se aprenden más lenguas Aunque en la parte en español le cambian el acento a muchas palabras (sístole y diástole) y no queda nada bien.
De la canción de España me gustan bastante las partes en las que no cantan. En serio.
